"DIY Report" refers to our self-service, AI-generated permit intelligence report that is delivered instantly upon purchase.
"Expert Report" refers to our human-reviewed permit intelligence report that includes additional verification and analysis.
"AHJ" means the Authority Having Jurisdiction, which includes local building departments, municipalities, counties, and other government agencies.
"User Content" means any information, data, addresses, property details, or other content you provide to us.
Permitrust provides AI-powered permit intelligence and analysis for residential construction projects, including but not limited to sheds, garages, decks, fences, and other structures. Our Services generate reports based on publicly available data, municipal records, and our proprietary AI algorithms.
YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT PERMITRUST IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY, BUILDING DEPARTMENT, LAW FIRM, OR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING FIRM. OUR SERVICES ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE, ENGINEERING ADVICE, OR OFFICIAL DETERMINATIONS FROM ANY AHJ.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, your use of our Services, or any aspect of the relationship between you and Permitrust shall be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
The arbitration shall be conducted in Cook County, Illinois, unless otherwise agreed by the parties. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction.
YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY AGREEING TO ARBITRATION, YOU ARE WAIVING YOUR RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY AND YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.
YOU AND PERMITRUST AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Further, unless both you and we agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding. The arbitrator may award declaratory or injunctive relief only in favor of the individual party seeking relief and only to the extent necessary to provide relief warranted by that party's individual claim.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or our Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. The application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is expressly excluded.
YOU AGREE THAT ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR OUR SERVICES MUST BE FILED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CLAIM ACCRUES; OTHERWISE, SUCH CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.
This one-year limitation period applies regardless of any longer statute of limitations that might otherwise apply under applicable law. This provision is intended to be a shorter statute of limitations and is a material term of these Terms.
Before initiating any arbitration or legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at legal@permitrust.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days of your initial contact, either party may initiate arbitration as described in Section 10.
Any arbitration hearing shall be conducted telephonically or via video conference unless the arbitrator determines that an in-person hearing is necessary. In such case, the hearing shall be held in Chicago, Illinois.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO CLAIM OR RECOVER FROM PERMITRUST ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
This waiver applies regardless of the legal theory under which the claim is brought and regardless of whether we knew or should have known of the possibility of such damages.

Our Services may contain information sourced from third parties, including municipal websites, government databases, and public records. We do not control or guarantee the accuracy of such third-party information. You acknowledge that we are not responsible for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in third-party information. We shall not be liable for any changes made by third parties to their data or websites after our reports are generated.
Permitrust reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend your access to our Services at any time, without notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

Permitrust reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will post the modified Terms on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our Services after any such modification constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using our Services.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced by a valid and enforceable provision that most closely achieves the original intent.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Permitrust regarding your use of our Services and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, agreements, or understandings, whether written or oral.
